Student Support Liaison

Your school age child has completed their assessment and you’re now wondering how this new information and diagnosis will impact your child’s education. Sometimes understanding how the BC Ministry of Education and school districts operate can be daunting to figure out. The policies, procedures, systems, acronyms, access to support, etc. can be overwhelming and it can be challenging for families to know where to start and what to expect. Or maybe you’ve had frustrations with the education system and need some help to clarify what steps you can take to address your concerns. Our resource liaison educator is here to assist you with navigating your child’s educational journey. Together we can review your child’s assessment results and recommendations and discuss how this could impact the supports and services available for your child in school as well as assisting you in understanding the School Act, Special Education Guidelines, and some of the educational terms that you may hear e.g. IEP.
